NAIOP Oregon's first annual Sustainability Awards were presented
on November 17th at the annual Owner & Developer Breakfast.  A crowd of 320 looked on as awards were presented to the following individuals, companies, and agencies:

This building needs no introduction. It has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the City of Portland’s BEST Awards (Businesses for an Environmentally Sustainable Tomorrow) and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance Better Bricks Award, among many others.

The LEED Platinum building exhibits many impressive attributes:

  • Using 36% less energy in the office and 78% less energy in the parking garage compared to standard buildings
  • An innovative Living Machine® system that treats wastewater for reuse in building as greywater using natural, tidal wetland-like processes.  Building uses 75% less water than typical office.
  • And the building is working towards being a  zero waste facility

115 Commerce Park was selected because it demonstrates a practical approach to incorporating environmentally responsible practices while being attentive to the needs of investors  in a low cost and competitive industrial market.

The project was designed so save:

    • Over 244,000 gallons of water per year
    • Over half a million kWh per year and 183,000 therms (approximately $200,000 per year)

In addition to the 115 Commerce Park project, the Trammell Crow Company has adopted  sustainable features on 5 million Square feet of Industrial property. It is projects such as 115 Commerce Park that are helping to move markets towards more sustainable practices.

NAIOP Oregon's first Sustainability Awards were designed by Portland artist Craig Leaper out of used repurposed wood and metal, and locally sourced glass. More examples of Mr. Leaper's work can be seen on his website at www.craigleaper.com
